Russ regularly mediates will contest cases, contested guardianships, and complex trust disputes. The latter cases frequently center around allegations of cognitive and behavioral dysfunction, functional impairment, impairments in mental capacity, and/or susceptibility to undue influence. Meet Russ
Russ Jones is a native Texan and trial lawyer with over 30 years of courtroom experience. During law school, Russ served as an Associate Editor of the University of Houston Law Review and co-authored The Law of Texas Medical Malpractice, 2d Edition (1985). Russ is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (Since 1991). Russ also co-authored Chapter 4, Medicine and Law: When Two Worlds Collide, in the medical textbook Complications in Anesthesiology, Lobato EB, Gravenstein N, Kirby RR (2008) Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins.
Russ is a frequent public speaker and lecturer on such diverse topics as Fundamentals of Cognitive Psychology for Probate Practitioners, How to Avoid Medical Malpractice Liability, Tort Reform in Texas, Texas Tort Law, and Drug-Assisted Sexual Assault. Since 1990, Russ has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Legal Studies Program of the College of Business at the University of Houston at Clear Lake where he teaches a course on Texas Tort Law to undergraduates.
In addition to 30 years’ experience as a medical malpractice trial lawyer, Russ has over 13 years’ experience handling complex probate, guardianship and trust litigation. Since 2009, Russ has been recognized as a certified ad litem in guardianship proceedings pursuant to Section 81.114, Section 3, Subchapter H, Chapter 81, Texas Government Code.
Russ has served the Harris County Probate Courts as a court-appointed attorney ad litem or guardian ad litem in probate, guardianship and trust proceedings, as temporary administrator pending contest, and as a guardian of the person and estate.
